DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Matteo Lulli (The Chinese University of Hong Kong\,
Hong Kong\, China)\, Antonino Marciano (Fudan University\, China & INFN Fr
 ascati\, Italy)\, Emanuele Zappala (Idaho State University\, USA)\, Roman
Pasechnik (Lunds universitet)\n\n\n\nThis Course belongs to the series Int
ernational School on Complexity\, directed by A. Zichichi\, and co-directe
d by G. Benedek\, A. Rapisarda and C. Tsallis. It will be held at the Etto
re Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture in Erice\, Italy
during the period April 22-28th\, 2024.\n\nPurpose of the Course:\n\nThe m
ain focus of the Course is to connect the mathematical foundation of comp
lex systems to quantum computing and artificial intelligence\, and to eluc
idate the applications of these approaches in several different fields of
natural sciences.\n\nThe main topics of this Course include fundamental p
hysics applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence includ
ing quantum machine learning. Several experts will be invited to give lec
tures on selected topics to PhD students and young scientists with interes
ts in theoretical physics\, material science\, statistical physics and c
omputer science.\n\nThe Course is directed primarily for PhD students and
young researchers whose interests and research are connected to complex
systems\, machine learning methods and their applications. Senior resear
chers and participants from non-academic (industrial) background are ver
y welcome to attend the School as well\, subject to availability of space
.\n\nA limited number of oral contributions and poster presentations will
 be accepted.\n\nFormat of the Course:\n\nArrival day: 22nd of April\nDepar
ture day: 28th of April\n\nWe plan for a hybrid (in-person & online) event
. All the lectures and presentations will be broadcasted via Zoom.\n\nThe
hybrid format will also be applied for coffee breaks\, welcome drink and
School dinner so that on-site and remote participants would stay connecte
d and have an opportunity for informal discussions.\n\nTuition fee and reg
istration:\n\nAll participants of the Course are required to fill the regi
stration form. The registration deadline has been extended to\n\n***** Apr
 il 15th 2024 *******\n\nDue to a limited capacity of the auditorium\, in
order to guarantee availability of space we encourage an early registrati
on.\n\nUpon acceptance\, participants are requested to pay an all-inclusi
ve tuition fee which will cover also accommodation in Erice and meals dur
ing the entire period of the Course plus shuttle services to and from airp
orts. There is a small fee for online participation too.\n\nInformation a
bout the fee payment procedure will be communicated to the accepted partic
ipants via email shortly after the registration has been completed and re
viewed.\n\nTentative key lecturers and topics:\n\n\n	Filippo Fabrocini -
Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence\n	Carlo Cannistraci - Machi
ne Learning and graph methods\n	Beatriz Seoane - Modelling capabilities of
energy-based generative models\n	Felipe Freitas - Large Language Models
