News

  • Nightly builds fail because of Swig's treatment of Python2 vs Python3, smth is wrong with Rawhide keys, too. Python2 clean-up is needed anyway.
  • Sourceforge keeps banning people thinking they are AI, support needs to be contacted.
  • An AI code inspection of ARC might be interesting.
  • ARC can be ran as a nonprivileged user if there's no need to switch to different UIDs. It should be possible to do even that, but needs some tweaks, can be an item to be discussed at the next techical meeting.
  • Lars has a fix for the host resolver hanging, but slow transfer rates with many files is stil an issue.
  • BOINC back-end has been updated by Ievgen, has now correct walltime.

Bugs

Nothing special to report, the OOM bug is still being investigated. One issue was related to tokens, and another to the OpenSSL structure not being freed (the "nofile" workaround).

Bug #4314 (slow DTR query) came with a patch, but it fixes the symptom, not the issue itself, more investigation is needed.

Release

Ideally the OOM problem should be fixed before the release is made. On the other hand, it only affects sites that use data transfers (i.e. NDGF). So a 7.2 may be released (a minor release, more than a bugfix, support for alternate python on RH9). Some initial work can start, e.g. release notes etc..

Meeting

There was a plan of having a F2F meeting in Lund in September 28 and/or 29 (tentatively). Some items to discuss are:

  • AI contributions policy
  • ARC directions and priorities
  • ARC as a nonprivileged user
  • Organisation of work (e.g. datadelivery)
